Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 missed the point

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 was almost hard to watch. The guardians, are now officially guardians, until they meet a…”god”. Sounds like a great plot for a sci-fi movie? It is, but it was executed badly.

Now, if you have watched American Gods TV series (Season 1) you know that this was the chance for the Guardians to meet and battle Odin – a mix of futuristic gurdians battling against an ancient all knowing celestial being determined to rule peoples hearts, like a twist of Vikings with Star Trek, epic meets tech, love versus essence of love.

Indeed there was an opportunity to make something substantive, and it almost tanks, except for one small baby tree called Groot! Acted by Vin Diesel, Baby Groot stands up to the incredibly foolish plot and creates a comedy out of the whole situation. In fact, you might spend the whole movie just waiting for Groot to do something really silly – and he nails it 100%, starting off with dancing while others are fighting, to being incredibly silly when he is being sent for a key to help guys escape from jail (anyone remember Pirates of the Caribbean – Jack Sparrow trying to escape from jail? – this is way cooler!).

Other than that, Guardians 2 disappointed, and i couldnt help but think they put too many colours on the screen, they played down the first kiss and they whole “godfather” to “guardian son” thing was a mess of a story.

Thank God for the hilarious Baby Groot, because of whom the movie was saved from being an absolute disaster!
